What is Baby and Postnatal Yoga?

Which Baby and Postnatal Yoga Class Is Right for You?
I run two different Baby and Postnatal Yoga classes, and it’s very common to feel unsure about which one to choose. Rather than being based strictly on age, the classes are guided by your baby’s stage of development, as well as your needs as a mum.
💚 Baby and Postnatal Yoga (Birth to Crawling)
This class is nurturing and restorative, supporting you through the early postnatal months while building confidence and strength.
It includes:
• Baby massage and gentle yoga movements
• Hip sequences to support digestion, wind, and physical development
• Moves with mum and baby, including different ways to hold and move together
• Tools to support baby sleep and settling
• Postnatal focused yoga poses and breathwork
• Gentle strengthening for the pelvic floor and abdominals, with some elements inspired by Pilates
The pace is calm and spacious. It’s completely fine if your baby needs feeding, changing, cuddling, or sleeps during the class. We always finish with a shared guided relaxation, sending you both off feeling calm and supported.
You’ll also receive a recording and handout after class to help you continue the practice at home.
💚 Adventurous Baby and Postnatal Yoga (Mobile Babies)
Adventurous Baby and Postnatal Yoga is for mobile babies, roughly from 6 months to 18 months, or once your baby is confidently moving.
These classes are playful and energetic, designed to keep curious, active babies engaged. We move into the session more quickly and explore fun themes such as “On Safari”, with themed songs, props, and toys.
Expect:
• More adventurous baby movements such as bouncing, swinging, and gentle inversions
• Time to connect and move together before transitioning to mum focused yoga
• A longer and more dynamic yoga practice for mums, adapted to individual needs
We finish with bubbles and a short relaxation. Babies are welcome to explore and move around freely. If they continue to play, I keep an eye on them so you can rest. Everything is optional and led by your baby, as long as they are safe.
Why Baby and Postnatal Yoga Matters
The early months of motherhood can feel joyful, overwhelming, and exhausting – often all at once. Baby and Postnatal Yoga offers a place to slow down, to feel held by community, and to reconnect with yourself and your baby.
Many mums choose to rebook term after term, which is one of the best testaments to how nourishing and supportive these classes can be. Read this testimonial from a client...
"Baby yoga is a fun class for the babies, spending time bonding with them and to pick up ideas on how to incorporate them into yoga practice at home. And enjoying some movement and relaxation at the same time! Postnatal yoga has been so helpful for me in my postpartum recovery, and reconnecting my mind and body in new ways. And brilliant to have a mum focused class I could bring my baby to, Amber even offers baby holding services if required!
Amber is a calming presence and a lovely teacher. I will miss these classes when my maternity leave ends! But hope to come to some of her retreats in future." Elly
